லால்குடி ஜெயராமன் அவர்கள் மறைவிற்கு வருந்துகின்றோம்

லால்குடி ஜெயராமன்     செப் 17 1930 - ஏப்ரல் 22 2013

Born in the lineage of a disciple of the saint musician Thiyagaraaja , Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman inherited the essence of Carnatic Music  from his versatile father, late V R Gopala Iyer, who trained him meticulously.

Noted violinist Lalgudi Jayaraman passed away on Monday in Chennai. He was 82 and is survived by his wife, son and daughter. His son Lalgudi GJR Krishnan and daughter GJR Vijayalakshmi are also violionists.

Hailing from Lalgudi in Tiruchi district, Mr. Jayaraman played for great mastroes, including Musiri Subramania Iyer, M.M. Dandapani Desikar, G. N. Balasubramaniam, Madurai Mani Iyer, Ramnad Krishnan, Madurai S. Somasundaram and Maharajapuram Santhanam.

He never played for women artists, as his father late V.R. Gopala Iyer was against this idea.

Though he evolved a style of his own popularly known as Lalgudi Bani, he never deviated from the role of an accompanying artist when he played for these great masters.

He was not keeping well for quite sometime after he had a stroke.
